Investigation Checklist¶
Use this checklist to ensure investigations are conducted consistently and thoroughly.
Intake¶
- [ ] Read the report completely.
- [ ] Determine whether immediate action is required.
- [ ] Identify all involved players.
Evidence Collection¶
- [ ] Gather relevant server logs.
- [ ] Review chat logs.
- [ ] Collect screenshots or video.
- [ ] Record witness statements, if applicable.
- [ ] Preserve evidence before it can be lost.
Rule Evaluation¶
- [ ] Identify the applicable rule(s).
- [ ] Verify that evidence supports the violation.
- [ ] Consider context and prior history.
Resolution¶
- [ ] Determine the appropriate action.
- [ ] Explain the decision when appropriate.
- [ ] Document the case.
- [ ] Request review if required.
Closure¶
Before closing the investigation, confirm:
- [ ] Documentation is complete.
- [ ] Evidence has been preserved.
- [ ] Required reviews are complete.
- [ ] Players have been notified when appropriate.
The goal is a fair, well-documented, and defensible outcome.
